7" Vinyl                                        Reviews G-K

GLUE Eposito

Farewell bit o' vinyl from Glasgow's exponents of the punky, funky, weird 'n' chunky. Five corkers at 33 rpm, deftly weaving between the knees of experimentalists                                      PORTOBELLO BONES, VICTIM'S FAMILY, THE FALL and PITCH SHIFTER and                     coming out at the end standing apart from all of 'em. Needs to be heard! Comes in a scrummy package, complete with foldout card sleeve, poster 'n' lyric sheet. Dun 'emselves on Angus' Feeble Records.

GUTTERMOUTH Balls

Yank punk as it always should be! Fast, snotty, tuneful & funny. GUTTERMOUTH are tip-top of the heap, kinda produces images of THE CLASH and even THE CRAMPS at times. 3 more pogo-inducing hits and one of the most yikky centre labels I've seen. It's just punk, dammit.

HAYWIRE Mad Cow Disease EP

An awesome EP from both Blind Destruction Records and the infamous South Coast scallywags, 'Haywyrrrrrrre!' ~ 4 stormers, ragin' against the machinery of                             homelessness, destruction of the countryside, meat eating and murder of innocents. This is a  4-tracker to treasure, to play to yer mates at squats & punx picnics.                       HAYWIRE have played a vital part in the DIY punk scene of today and this contains strong shades of Oi POLLOi, DOOM, AMEBIX and all your faves.

HEIMAT POP Heimat Pop                                                                                  Colourful, 'Smash Hits' packaged tongue-in-cheek release from Campary. HP are a             punk-girl-pop-at-'80s-disco-cheese, very much reminiscent of NINA HAGEN,                     FUZZBOX, HAGAR THE WOMB and XEROX GIRLS. Kim Wilde, Madonna, Kylie: no teen idol is safe. Intriguing and enigmatic and very much like the band wot did '99 Red (luft) Balloons', it could only have come from Germany. Limited edition of 500 copies.

HOLY GUNS INC. Holy Guns Inc.

Mental experimental  and often industrial punk from Italy. Think RANCID HELL SPAWN, FOETUS INC., KUBRICK, COP SHOOT COP, THE POP GROUP, all with an                       intense shouty geezer, pounding bass and buzzsaw guitar - I'd really forgotten how great this is!

IT'S NOT FOR SALE IN4S

A HUM-DINGER OF A 3-TRACKER on the scrummy Sacro Egoismo label. Imagine if BLACK FLAG had moved to Slovenia around the time of "Annihilate This Week", "Slip it In", etc. They probably wouldn't have received nearly so much publicity, which, oddly enough, IT'S NOT FOR SALE                 haven't, either. Even the world of punk sucks at times - improve the situation by getting hold of this beauty. Each song gets better than the one before.

KANSALAISTOTTELEMATTOMUUS  F*ck Their F*ck*n' System

Red vinyl, Finnish in-yer-face, total rage of politico punkness, 5 full-on rants against multinationals, the world bank, treatment of immigrants & asylum seekers, the hypocrisy of the "war on terror", and their f*ck*n' f*ck*d-up system. Lyrics in English, with smatterings of Gaelic & German and vocals that could only be delivered by Deek (Oi POLLOi) (and, in fact, are!). An awesome release and one that will peel the wallpaper from your ears & eyes and, once yo punkers get wind of this, is likely to zip out, so grab a copy quick. It's tops.
