BALD CACTUS #19  80p   $4   €1.50

Like Slug & Lettuce, Punk Shocker and some old guff called Ruptured Ambitions, Andy Cactus has been at it since 1989... In years to come, perhaps that year will be looked upon as the second milestone since 1977... but perhaps not. Can't fault this zine for punk attitude and downright honest-to-goodness honesty. Interviews the marvellous JUGGLING JUGULARS and the interesting SNED (Flat Earth

Records and nearly every punk band north of Nottingham since 1985), and some corking                        articles on 120 Rats squat R.I.P. (couldn't agree more), sell-out anarchist bands -and zines, the lottery, Christianity, homophobia, the 'race riots' of

Oldham, Bradford, Leeds, Stoke, etc., Emmaz Social Centre, plus some well bizarre but, erm, different guest columns. Andy, please never give it up!

BALD CACTUS Issue 20  80p   $4   €1.50

Andy's up to his usual tip-top style of baiting, controversy, honesty and punk rock rantability! Ace reviews & articles (Countryside Alliance, so-called "Dead Kennedys", punk reunion gigs…), plus in-depth interviews with KISMET HC, FIG.4.0,  ACTIVE SLAUGHTER and ATTILA "I need more publicity!" THE STOCKBROKER. One of da best reads out.

CARGO CULT issue 4 70p  $4   €1.50                                                       (Benefit for No Platform Anti-Fascist Network)                                                                                                                                                   I likes Chips' zine, I does - oozing with nowt but contempt for the cops, the  sell-outs and the system and full o'highly readable bits with ROTUNDA, Paul   Cistern (he of ANAL BEARD and Beat Bedsit Recs), Re-Pressed Distribution, plus stacks of rad articles, fab reviews, rants and honest-to-goodness two-fingered attacks.

Highly readable ints with BUG CENTRAL, Boz (punk artist), LEFT FOR DEAD, original and unpredictable questioning, various rants and articles (Chip's anti-Crass piece should upset a few applecarts!), great piece on Rape Crisis and stuff about getting caught short in public places.

CAT ON A STRING issue 6     70p   $4  €1.50                                           (Benefit for Haven  distribution)

COAS has got betterer and betterer with each issue (I know Rachel will think I'm just writin' nice stuff as usual, but it's twoo!) and no, what happens, it's the last issue! Don't cry though, 'cos out of the ashes will come Head Wound - a   collaboration betwixt this and Chip o'Cargo Cult, so the future looks bright.   Meanwhile, feast upon THINGY, SWELLBELLYS, Haven Distribution and a whole lotta love and controversy.

CODEYE # 8  80p   $4   €1.50

Good ol' Rob seems to be getting this out pretty regular - brimming with   enthusiasm, plus interviews the evergreen W.O.R.M., FOREIGN LEGION,  HOTWIRED and THE HITCHERS. Thoroughly entertaining writing style, stiff with reviews, honesty and rants. A pure punk read throughout.

INITONIT #12 70p   $4   €1.50

Always a cracking good, enthusiastic read. Interviews with the victimized 4   LETTER WORD, KISMET HC and THEE OVERDOSE. Terrifically inspired reviews and top punk points                     a-plenty. Keep on keeping on, Paul!

INITONIT issue 14  70p   $4   €1.50

Flavour of the month, Jess Spice dun da cover and within is probably the best this zine has been so far - I always say that, but I always speak nothing but the truth. FREAKS UNION, SEVENTEEN STITCHES, BBP Records & Tapes, W.O.R.M., and HOMEBREW feature, but the articles are classics, in particular the piece on  ciders and ageism in punk (excellent!).

                                                                                          £1.20   $5   €2.00

I love spilt zines and this has got to be one of the most bumper-packed, fab reads in ages! SS executes some decent probings among Intimidation Records, Household Name Records and some wazzock from THE BUS STATION LOONIES. Plus   cooking recipes, guide to                    Amsterdam, Car boot sales and hitchhiking tales. ROACM is more surreal (especsh the                      artwork - c-razy!); more tales from Holland (Basterd Sugar is amusing, as are Belgium's Spunk Biscuits and Germany's Muckfuk coffee!), interviews THE AMPUTEES, Michael                   Bukowski, punk artist, travelling round  Norwich, and a piece on Walt Disney, very close to my heart! A very personal,   compelling read throughout which kept me enthralled on the train.
