PUNK ROCK RARITIES Volume 1

Don't quite know what constitutes a 'rarity' in this instance, but here are 20 tracks from 9 bands from the 1979-81 kinda era, only two of which I'd heard of before. Ranges from the OK to the amazing and I'm certainly a sucker for somethin' a little out-of-the-ordinary and that's certainly what you gets. THE BEARS, THE PANIK, THE STOAT, BILLY KARLOFF BAND (Billy went on to pen classics for The Business and The Damned, inc. one of my all-time faves "Wait For The Blackout"!), EMBRYO (who                           kidnapped Radio 1 DJ Mike Reid - cool), THE RIVALS, MURDER INC. (the original, not to be confused with the Killing Joke/Ministry spin-off), JUMP SQUAD (who's punk cover of 'Lord of the Dance' has to be heard!) and CHARGE. Summat for the genuine punk rock anoraks out there!

RASHIT Telasa Mahal Yok                                                                                                               Kicking 10-song album from Istanbul's awesome RASHIT - these guys are the Turkish version of OXYMORON and no mistake (especially demonstrated by songs 'Ne Yaparsan Yap', 'Sark Cephisi' & 'Kapak Guzelleri'), but sadly their popularity will never match their German counterparts due to their singing in their native tongue. Great pity, as those of you into TOY DOLLS, ABRASIVE WHEELS, DEFIANCE, UK SUBS, DROPKICK                       MURPHYS and BOUNCING SOULS would be in for a reet treat! More than a nod                    towards certain recognisable songs (Wooly Bully, When the Saints…) with great                       singalong melodies and mob-rousing choruses. Brilliant. Live dangerously and go for it!
