ALIEN SQUAD from Alienation to an Alien Nation CD

The first-ever release by this rip-roaring bunch of Portugeezers is a compilation about their favourite songs over the past 10 or so years. 18 raging tracks, each pretty much lasting a coupla' minutes; very hardcore, punchy and powerful. School Shit, Anarchy is Dead, Fight for Animal Rights, Fascist Scum, Doctor Killer, Holy Suckers and Not Enough Slavery Yet? share the same breeks as SKEEZICKS, SPERMBIRDS, DOA, LOS CRUDOS, ENGLISH DOGS, EXPLOITED (as shown in their brilliant cover of THE                                  VIBRATORS'  Troops of Tomorrow). Full colour foldout poster with 2000 AD-style                                 sci-fi artwork and lyrics.

ALREADY TOO MUCH BLOOD ON SCIENCE HANDS Animal Rights Benefit comp CD

ANAL BEARD Puffin' Billy Butlin

Dubbed 'We've got a Bus Pass and we're gonna use it!', this latest and swishest offering from the loveable Brighton eccentrics is a steaming corker and no mistake (whatever that may mean). 6 tracks of sheer insane genius, all wrapped in a full colour wacky sleeve - 'You and Your Ruddy Trousers' and 'Max Bygraves K-Tel Compilation LP' are deliciously haunted by the morose pessimistic acceptance that is HALF MAN HALF BISCUIT, backed with upbeat knee-slap that is not present in nearly enough punk these days, young fella m'lad. Much of it slaps you with a THRILLED SKINNY/DESPERATE BICYCLES/TV PERSONALITIES DIY charm of pure garage punk glee that piddles over most others. 'Phoning In Pestilent' is this release's track I have to play 27 times in a row: it's one of those all-time punk classics and I love it. Stuff to shout along and bounce with, and any CD with a song, 'Music to Watch Girls Ignore You to' needs to be added to every collection in the world. You won't know what you're missing until you're not.                                                                                                                                                            ANAL BEARD We, the Dreg

On Boss Tuneage label this time, the mighty BEARD present their 'Variety Gala '97 - '02', just in case you haven't heard it all before!  Tracks:  Fanzine Nerd, My Name's                     Bungle…', Tight Fit Reunion Concert, A Game of Bowls, Phoning in Pestilent, No Escape from he Anal Beard, Biscuit, Rub Me Out, Fucking Cat, Bus Pass, A Load of Blokes,  Mayhem Cup of Gin, Agent Against the State, Drugs are Clever, U.F.O., Max Bygraves…, White Trash Blues, No Idea, Too Much Bad, Mrs. Dave, Gertcha!, Hussein in the                   membrane, Cheesy Mattress, You and your Ruddy Trousers, Bed of Muck, Ugly, Finding News Ways to Grumble, I, Sexually Weird.

ANAL BEARD/CHESTER Slow, Comfortable Shoe live split CD

Quite simply, this collection of live hits from London-to-Brighton punk chums CHESTER and ANAL BEARD from their joint bash at The Golden Shoe (IN AID OF THE Mark Barnsley Defence Fund) makes me wish I was there. However, listening to this CD is a great comfort. 21 tracks in all, kinda half-and-half, alternating between the more-ish eccentricities of both bands. Party faves, Atom Bomb, Tony Blair and Aliens Aboard' come from the Chesties, while the Beard strut their funky stuff with Bungle, Hussein in the Membrane 'and Cheesy Mattress. Don't think I've heard the likes of 'Wot a                        Result', 'Billy Bunter' or 'Lime and the Coconut' before, but perhaps I'm going senile.
